Carolyn Aijian became a Registered Nurse in 1975, and has enjoyed many roles in nursing since. After working at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena as Assistant Head Nurse on the neurosurgical floor, she became a member of the IV team. She was recruited to work for an Oncologist in private practice in Pasadena, and worked there until moving to Santa Barbara with her husband. In Santa Barbara, she worked for her husband, Dr. Paul S. Aijian, an Internist with a special interest in Geriatrics in private practice. Since 1978 they have attended many fascinating conferences and continuing education courses together.
While raising their four children, she took a break from full time nursing, and did charitable work as a camp nurse during the summers. She worked part-time as a relief Nursing Supervisor at a local Skilled Nursing Facility on the weekends. During this time she also took many trips abroad, working in medical missions in such places as Mexico, Papua New Guinea, Guatemala and Zambia. She also taught Jr. and Sr. High Biology classes to homeschoolers.
Once the children were raised, she returned to work with Santa Barbara Care Management, where she became a Nurse Case Manager. After the retirement of owner, Diane Simpkins, Carolyn began her own business, Independent Nurse Consulting that has grown in size and scope to the thriving company it is today.
She has served as member or president of several Boards of Directors locally and in the western United States. Carolyn’s hobbies include singing, horses, cooking, sewing, reading and travel.
